Centre of Excellence Partners with Badminton Australia to Elevate Performance

Badminton Australia (BA) and the Centre of Excellence (CoE), powered by Athletics NSW, are proud to announce a new performance training partnership aimed at enhancing the strength and conditioning (S&C) support available to BA athletes across Australia.

"This is an exciting partnership for us here at the Centre of Excellence. Working with remote athletes is something we are very familiar with in athletics, and we understand the importance of individualised programming tailored to each athlete’s needs. The opportunity to provide BA players with structured, high-quality S&C support, both at home and on the road, will be a game-changer for their performance. These types of partnerships thrive on having a strong team behind the scenes, and we are excited to be part of BA’s journey toward future success," said Nils Hestermann, GM Performance & Pathways at Athletics NSW.

This partnership will provide BA athletes with access to S&C services, including performance testing, individualised programming, in-house S&C sessions, and performance management while on the road during tournament travel. By integrating cutting-edge training methodologies with athlete-specific programming, this collaboration will help optimise the physical preparation of BA’s elite players, ensuring they are equipped to perform at their best on the international stage.

"Our partnership with the Centre of Excellence offers our athletes access to world-class strength and conditioning services, personalised to meet their individual needs both on and off the court. At BA, we provide our players with the best resources to excel at the highest level, and this collaboration is a crucial part of that commitment. The expertise, support, and knowledge gained from this partnership will be instrumental in helping our athletes reach their full potential,” said Leanne Choo, Badminton Australia National Head Coach.

This partnership welcomes BA into the expanding CoE family, marking an exciting step forward for the organisation. Together, the CoE and BA will work to set new standards in performance training, ensuring Australian badminton players have the support they need to compete at the highest level.
